Nebraska American Legion honors Firefighter/EMT-of-the-Year

Lincoln (January 27, 2025) – The Nebraska American Legion has selected Brent Bergstrom of Bellevue as their 2024 Firefighter/EMS-of-the-Year for his hard work and dedication to the Offutt AFB Fire and Emergency Services.
Bergstrom has been with the Offutt Fire and Emergency Services for the past 21 years where he honorably serves his community. He is a skilled firefighter with qualifications that help him with crisis management and being an effective leader. His professional competence was witnessed were he led and directed multiple sectors during a mass casualty incident, after the 2024 Offutt Defenders of Freedom Air and Space Show. He led, directed, and coordinated multiple sectors sorting and triaging over 400 patients. His professional competence consistently makes the difference between success and failure at Offutt AFB Fire & Emergency Services.
Department Commander Boyd Yochum will present Bergstrom with a plaque and thank him for his dedication to duty at the Nebraska American Legion Department Convention in June. Following selection as Nebraska’s Firefighter/EMT-of-the-Year, Bergtrom’s name has been submitted for consideration as the National Firefighter-of-the-Year.
