Nebraska American Legion Honors Law Enforcement Officer-of-the-Year

Lincoln (January 27, 2025) – The Nebraska American Legion has selected Sgt Shane Maloley of Beatrice as their 2024 Law Enforcement Officer-of-the-Year for his hard work and dedication to the Beatrice Police Department.

Sgt Maloley has been with the Beatrice Police Department for the past 15 years where he has honorably served his community in the positions of Patrol Officer, Narcotics Investigator, and Patrol Sergeant. Maloley has been a member of the Special Response Team (SRT) for 13 years and currently serves as their SRT Commander. Sgt Maloley was recognized for his bravery as he and other officers rescued two children from a hostage situation where the suspect was taken into custody. He has dedicated himself to a life of service not only behind the badge but also as a volunteer coach at Pawnee High School.

Department Commander Boyd Yochum will present Sgt Maloley with a plaque and thank him for his dedication to duty at the Nebraska American Legion Department Convention in June. Following selection as Nebraska’s Law Enforcement Officer-of-the-Year, Sergeant Maloley’s name has been submitted for consideration as the National Law Enforcement Officer-of-the-Year.
